.
My name is Sergio Plecas. I am a Director and Director of Photography with over 10 years experience in the industry.
I was born and raised in Croatia and have been here in America since 2003. I went to school at Open University Znjanje in Serbia and received a degree in photography. I spend most of my days as Creative Director at our local PBS station and most of my weekends/evenings behind my Canon 7D. As a Director of Photography, I see the world a bit differently than the average person. I have been very fortunate to have worked with the likes of Mark Walberg (Antiques Roadshow), Kristin Davis (Sex & the City), Maksim Chmerkoskiy (Dancing with the Stars), Jack Perkins (A&E Biography), and Ken Burns (documentary filmmaker). I have received several Emmy nominations, and in 2012 received an Emmy Award for my work.
First and foremost, I am a cinematographer. At its core, cinematography is an art form--and this art comes through in my photos, as well. Before I even click a button, I have already envisioned the shot I want to capture. I'm working out lighting situations, determining how to best light my subject to communicate a vision. Capturing a vision is, after all, what being a Director of Photography is about. I think this it what makes me different than a lot of photographers in this area: my photography is often like stills from a movie.
When it comes to photography, I like to bring a unique touch to shots. Everyone has a camera these days, so it's a professional photographer's job to bring something else to the table. I like to push the envelope sometimes. My goal at the end of the day is to provide my clients with a set of images that provoke deeper thought--images that capture emotion, a feeling. Images that say something and mean something.
I shoot architecture, weddings, portraits, engagements, families, special events, products, ads, and anything else worth remembering. I am happy to travel to shoots.
I enjoy shooting on location--whether going to a park, the river, a barn, an alley, a field, or your home, I have a portable studio to make these things happen. I also have a studio in downtown Chattanooga, which can be used if you're looking for a specialized headshot or background. Because I have a portable studio, I am able to set up lights and backgrounds in your home or at a location of your choosing, which sure does make things convenient.
Regardless of whether we've had a chance to meet up beforehand or talk on the phone, I will spend a bit of time with you at the beginning of your photo session to get to know you and go over the direction of your shoot. I want to be sure you end up with the photos you want!
